The Aaron Barnett Foundation is proud to announce the Aaron Barnett Memorial Scholarships for young men and women for the 2022/2023 calendar year, up to $37,000 for senior students attending public schools within San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, and San Diego counties.

Students who have received their acceptance letter or intend to apply for college in the Fall of 2022 will be eligible to receive scholarships between $500-$3,000 to pursue their higher education in Cybersecurity. The scholarship amounts will be paid toward their higher education by writing checks to the universities or colleges. 

We are looking for exceptional candidates with a proven academic and achievement record and will significantly contribute to the broader ICT/Cybersecurity global community.

The ABF Scholarship Application for the year 2022/2023 window will open on March 15, 2022, and close on April 30, 2022, at 11:30 pm.

The Scholarship Window Opens 03-15-2022 & Closes 04-30-2022 by 11:30 pm

The ABF Scholarship Application for the year 2022/2023 window will open on March 15, 2022, and close on April 30, 2022, at 11:59 pm. Please note that you cannot apply for the scholarship if your high school is not registered with the ABF scholarship application system.
Please check the school list page on the ABF website (https://aaronbarnettfoundation.org/schoollist) to confirm your high school's registration. In order to find your high school on this designated listing, please type in the name of your school in the SEARCH field. If you can not find your school, you can also register by filling out the form found on the same page. Once we have added your high school's information to our scholarship application system, it will appear in the drop-down feature under the school name field when you register to access the scholarship application.

Eligibility Criteria

The Aaron Barnett Memorial Scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis to candidates who demonstrate enthusiasm to serve as excellent ABF student ambassadors.

You may only apply for a scholarship if you meet the eligibility criteria.

  • Scholarship Criterion
  • Current Senior (12th Grade) in good academic standing
  • Cyber Academic Pathway Program or course (Verified by the Class Teacher) and/or completed cyber-related coursework (Verified by Completion Certificate)
  • Participated on Cyber Competition Team (Verified by Coach)
  • Minimum GPA 2.75  (Verified by Authorized School Administrator or ICT Instructor)
  • Earned 1 Industry/Education Certification
  • Pursuing a major/career in ICT or Cyber Related Field
  • Enrolled or planning to enroll in 2-Year or 4-Year College in the Summer or Fall
  • Must submit TWO Letters of Recommendation from Mentor, Cyber Instructor, Cyber Coach, Administration, and/or School Counselor
  • Volunteered and completed a minimum of 20 Community Service Hours

Introducing Young Women Cybersecurity Scholarship

The Aaron Barnett Foundation introduces additional scholarships of up to $7000.00 to support and encourage more young women at the senior level perusing their higher study in cybersecurity.

Conditions

These notes are intended to outline the conditions for scholars who have been offered an Aaron Barnett Memorial Scholarship.

  • At its sole discretion, the Foundation reserves the right to allocate and administer the scholarship award as appropriate, and conditions may be subject to change.
  • The foundation has sole discretion in awarding this scholarship and reserves the right not to award a scholarship or withdraw a scholarship for non-compliance with the award's terms. 
  • Successful candidates will normally be notified by email no later than one month after the publicized closing date. (May 31, 2022, 11:30 pm)

The Award

The Scholarship Selection Committee will utilize a scoring rubric to assess the application submissions. All applications will be reviewed equally, and the total average score of the review team compiled to determine the award recipients.

  • The scholar must be enrolled in their selected college or university before their scholarship can be awarded. 
  • The scholar must comply with the terms and conditions of admittance and the University/College Regulations, including their Attendance and Academic Integrity Policies.
  • Where there is a failure to comply, then the ABF Board of Directors may withdraw the scholarship award in whole or part.
  • Scholarships do not include any other expenses, for example, living and transport costs.
  • The scholar assigns to the Foundation any intellectual property or other rights created as part of the promotional material.
  • Become a Student Ambassador: As student ambassadors, the scholars will act as active representatives of ABF. They will be expected to participate in current and future promotional activities, and as such, will be interviewed and photographed by our marketing department. The scholars will also contribute from time to time in promoting the Aaron Barnett Foundation by supporting events organized for scholars and community outreach events organized by the Board of Directors. The scholars agree ABF will make no payment to the scholar for their participation in promotional activities. The foundation reserves the right to revoke the scholarship if the scholar is not fulfilling the role's requirements.

How To Apply

Students will submit scholarship applications through the Scholarship portal of the Aaron Barnett Foundation Website.

This portal will be opened on March 15, 2022

  • Applicants must complete their profiles before accessing the application system. The scholarship application will not be activated until they submit the full profile information.
  • Applicants may continue working on the application and SAVE their applications in the ABF Memorial Scholarship system until the deadline.
  • Access to log in to the system will be posted when the scholarship application window opens.
  • The application cannot be re-submitted once it is submitted through the ABF Scholarship system
  • Applicants must review the applications carefully before making their final submission.
  • A confirmation email, along with a PDF version of the entire application will be sent to the email address associated with the account. 
  • Students' ages must be 17 or older at the date of submission.
