Aaron Barnett Foundation Established
May 23, 2019- A newly established foundation has been created in honor of the late Aaron Barnett, Director of Technology of the Moreno Valley Unified School District, former board member and President of CETPA, and friend and leader to many.
The Aaron Barnett Foundation was established in August 2019, by a group of enthusiastic and passionate life-long friends and co-workers of Aaron. This cohort shares Aaron’s passion to motivate and support youth in K-12 education to pursue cybersecurity career training that honors the dedicated work of their friend and colleague.
The focus of the Aaron Barnett Foundation will be to give back to the community by offering students scholarships, access to financial aid to cover program costs, and connecting them with industry-leading technology organizations.
The foundation will be launching a mentorship program for students to have access to IT leaders for guidance and support with the goal of inclusion and closing the opportunity gap.
The Aaron Barnett Foundation will consist of five board members, IT leaders within the public and private sector including a cyber-security patriot instructor.
The foundation’s first course of action will be to attend the CETPA 2019 conference to generate interest with those who share our cause and are aligned with Barnett’s passion for learning.
