About Aaron Barnett

Aaron joined MVUSD in 1998 coming onboard Information Systems/Technology as the first Systems Administrator. Within 2 years he was appointed as Director of Information Systems/Technology and began building the team from 6 employees to its present 27 member team. He always made his top priority creating the best possible network environment to benefit the students of Moreno Valley.

His commitment to providing the best services for students included implementing a new state-of-the-art wireless network across all school sites, placing a technology device with each student and building a modern data center with backup services at the District office.

In 2016, Aaron Barnett started Cyber Security BOOTCAMPS teaching CyberSecurity Education programs to technical leaders in education sector through TAPD which provide technical assistance to professionals in education center. https://www.k12tapd.org/

This program is designed to provide local education agencies with a research-based, comprehensive, and engaging set of tools designed to strengthen the right habits of mind associated with a cyber-secure culture.

He developed resources which include a dynamic, online, video-based professional learning curriculum. In the year of 2016-2017, He demonstrated several bootcamps in different cities in Southern and Northern California like San Diego, Fresno, Redwood City, Oakland, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Cupertino, Sacramanto, Irvine, Costa Mesa and many more.

I’m currently serving as technology chair in my role as CETPA director. I am responsible for bringing all the technology to the annual conference.

Community Service

He was also involved with the community, including membership with Rotary, Chamber of COmmerce and the Optimists Club. He also served in leadership roles with CASBO and as one of the board of directors and President ( 2015-2017) of CEPTA (California Educational Technology Professionals Association)

Cybersecurity Certifications

He obtained degrees and several technology certifications including Black Hat Certification and most prestigious Cyber Security Certification, CISSP during his service at MVUSD. As a leader and mentor, he encouraged staff and students to continue their education and professional growth. He was a good listener, slow to speak and eager to understand others, a pillar of integrity, and had a bright cheerful spirit. His energy level was always high and his approach to any challenge was always impressive.
