Ryan Nguyen is a college freshman at the University of California Irvine aspiring to be a civil engineer and find opportunities to expand his cybersecurity knowledge in order to make the environments that people live in safer, not just in building sturdy bridges, buildings, and streets, but also in the digital world. Ryan learned and developed his cybersecurity skills through his high school experience in the CyberPatriot and Capture-The-Flag (CTF) competitions, securing Linux computer systems as well as analyzing exploits in vulnerable programs and cryptography schemes. He continues to broaden his experience in cybersecurity by partaking in CTF competitions. Much of his achievements can be accredited by the teammates he made doing competitions in high school, who also aspire to pursue their passions in cybersecurity at the University of California Los Angeles and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Mr. Allen Stubblefield, Ryan's CyberPatriot coach, provided and continues to provide opportunities and support to help him in his career goals. The Aaron Barnett Foundation also provides him with financial support with the Aaron Barnett Scholarship so that he can pursue his academics at the University of Califronia Irvine.
