BARNETT CYBER INNOVATION CENTER

BARNETT CYBER INNOVATION CENTER

A dream, a vision, beckoning to become reality - drive the hallmark efforts of Moreno Valley Unified School District and Canyon Springs High School. Upon receiving a $642,000 Strong Workforce Program Grant for expanding their UC a-g approved district-wide Cyber Academic Pathway, the administration immediately began seeking and applying for a $3.5 million dollar facilities grant to build a state-of-the-art, NASA style, Cyber Innovation Center.

The intent of the center, is at the heart of everything Aaron Barnett strived to achieve through his investment and belief in students engaged in cyber education pathways. The center will encompass 7,000 square feet of cyber classroom labs; IT tech center; competition area; innovation center; mentoring conference rooms for hosting webinars and advanced instruction, hands-on work based learning stations with server racks and network equipment; Boe-Bot robotics, drones, and Raspberry Pi’s; and also serve as community outreach for professional development and cyber safety training for small business and community groups.

MVUSD educators and administration are finalizing the grant this week as submissions are due in December, with grant award notifications in the spring. In honor of his lifelong dedication, the MVUSD Information Technology Department, Cyber Educators, and Administration are seeking to have the new facilities, which is slated to open in 2021-2022, officially named, Barnett Cyber Innovation Center.
